Interview with an ID thief

This CNN special report interviews spammer Jason Carpenter. Though it is dated, it is interesting.

  2. TechPaul,

Was in the process of writing a blog article, relating to online fraud and linked to your site for everyone to see this video. Very powerful message…

  3. Thank you Rick,
While this video sort of reinforces the erroneous notion that cybercriminals are rich, White, (American) “kids”.. it is a very well done piece of Journalism, on a very important subject (a $100 billion/year “industry”).

  5. Well, Waheed, I could fill a page with that answer.. and then a whole bunch of folks would disagree with my choices. But here goes.

For a bundled “security suite” I am currently recommending Norton Internet Security 2009.

It is important to have more than one anti-spyware. (the second one can be a freebie)
Paid: Spyware Doctor w/AV, or Webroot Spy Sweeper w/AV
Free: Spyware Doctor Free, and/or AdAware.

If you do not have security that includes Antivirus..
    Avast! (Pro or free)

Also, bolster your defenses with a heuristic tool, such as Threatfire.

  6. I’d seen this a while back, but it’s always a good reminder – esp. around this time of the year.
