Folks,
Those of us who are “security inclined” know how things are bad, but frankly, the “whitehats” are so far behind the cybercriminals, we really only have a glimpse of the ‘tip of the iceberg’.
And the “blackhats” invent new attacks everyday (it’s their full-time job!).
It is up to YOU to realize the dangers and protect your machines… and apply common sense “paranoia” while surfing the Internet.

I am hoping that we are “now” in the time where the security of the internet (and our privacy)will be addressed. Educating the masses is one thing, but the internet is in a broken condition. As a community we need to quit thinking defense and go on the offense in fighting internet crime. The government, first time I can remember, is really taking a hard look at all of this. The security of our country is dependent on it. Thanks for a great read AND thanks for the “link back”…

I am unsure to whom to attribute the quote, but I’ve heard it all my life and rather think it has merit — the best defense is a good offense.
It is a complex problem, as the Internet is global. Finding, prosecuting, and shutting down cybercriminals will require an International cooperation unprecedented in man’s history.
Which sounds impossible (can anyone say the League of Nations or the UN were good and productive ideas?) but (but!) so much of modern commerce depends on the Web that it just could happen.
