Now They Have Gone Too Far
Dear Reader, I am so much in a dither this morning that I can barely type. I’m frantic. And I’m… scared. I received a message this morning and I don’t know how to respond to it… I mean, I know what I’m supposed to NOT do.. but. Well, I need your help deciding.
Even though I am not a “cat person”, I have come to love my cat; and he’s never hurt anybody, or said mean things about them. If something happened, it would break my heart.
Oh. Wait. It says I sent the note.
I don’t remember doing that.
I think I need to stop typing and go get my head examined. I seem to have a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde thing going on…
* Folks: it seems my facetious tack and humor is not exactly clear. This image is a screenshot of my Spam folder. Spammers “spoof” the e-mail addresses: here several appear to come from “me”. The cyber-criminals are just trying new ways to get people to click, and I though threatening a cat was kind of.. unique.
I thought my readers should be aware — they want us to click, so don’t!

Dear Paul, I’ve come to take a liking to our cats also over the years but I must say I’m a bit confused about the email. I realize I don’t know u personally but I can’t see any reason why there would be any terrorist threats toward your cat. You’ll have to send your reader’s a bit more detail; if it’s legit’. At any rate, if you feel a bipolar disorder coming on; which seems to be the latest craze, I understand there’s been some remarkable breakthrough’s in the pharmaceutical field for these types of illness’. Keep us posted and try not lose much sleep over this, I’m sure the cat isn’t; after all, thats what they pretty much do for a living other than letting you live w/ them. Be good.

August,
No, there’s ne need to worry. I was simply being facetious to point out that spammers are getting more creative in their “lures”.
The Sender is automatically filled to be the same as the recipients.. creating the “From: me”.
That’s these guys’ full time job. Sitting around thinking up ways to get us to click so they can do their crimes.

Hi Paul;
I don’t quite understand what your email is about, I don’t know anything about you and cats, but whatever the negative email is about, I think you have to ignore it, chalking it up to all the other junk that’s out there, that’s easy to get at us through the technology that we deal with.
As for thinking that you may need treatment for a bipolor disorder, as mentioned above, being the latest craze, forget about that, you are just thrown off balance to receive a shocking email.
Perhaps someone is jealous of your successful work, and popularity with tech 4 Everyone.
take a deep breath, relax and have a good nights sleep.
take care
