Tech – for Everyone

Tech Tips and Tricks & Advice – written in plain English.

Thank You, Tech – for Everyone Readers | One Million!

The old odometer has just clicked over the 1,000,000th visitor to my humble tech Tips, Tricks, and Advice site, Tech – for Everyone.

Since I first published article #1, The first Tech Paul Post: secure your web connection, in June of 2007, I have learned a good deal, made some very important friendships, and – hopefully – helped a few folks learn a few things, solve a few problems, and better enjoy technology along the way.

To you – Dear Reader – I say…

thank_you

A few other T4E stats:

# of articles posted: 1,056 (roughly 93.56% original, 6.44% re-postings.) Use my “Search widget” to browse prior tips & answers by keywords, or browse my writings by month.

# of Reader Comments: 3,892 (almost exactly half of those are my replies.. so lets say, 2,000 readers have asked questions/commented. I welcome your comments on my articles and questions about computers and “tech”. Dialogue is what keeps the Web relevant and dynamic.)

Most popular article: Manage Startup programs in Vista (115,584 page views)

Most downloaded program (referral): Security Task Manager (928)

# of cups of coffee consumed by Tech Paul while writing all these articles: 16 (… but, they were Olympic swimming pool-sized cups. Ha!)

I never intended to write so many posts, nor write for so long.. my intention was simply to publish a few How-To’s so I could say “read this”, instead of repeating myself (when people find out you’re a tech.. they ask you questions!). But let’s see if we can’t make it through another three years together – shall we?

Genius? I’m just a lil ‘ole country boy, but I think my heart’s in the right place.

      I thank you, sir.

I have the feeling you might be able to “relate” to this next..
When I was composing the announcement, and checking dates and figures and such.. and re-reading some of my first posts.. it seemed like a distant radio was playing..

“Sometimes the light’s all shining on me
Other times I can barely see
      Lately it occurs to me
      What a long strange trip it’s been…”

This does not surprise me… You have stayed the course with this. All I can say is “Thank You” for all the advice, help and most importantly the friendship.

As for the other, it is my distinct privilege – as well as a real pleasure – to be able to say “my friend Rick”.

  11. Oh ya! “Classic” black vinyl with a paper label in the center! Those were “The days”

    • yes.. I remember them. And I remember the jump-up-to-flip-ing. And the needle “hiss”, “scratch”. and “pop”-ing.. the warping. (“don’t leave your records in the sun.. in the sun.. in the sun.. in the sun.. “)
And I remember spending hours “recording” those vinyl discs to a new thing called “cassette tapes”.. and paying extra for “metal” tapes.

Nowadays, my entire music collection fits on a ‘chip’ about the size of my fingernail, and my “phonograph player” is about the size of a zippo lighter… Amazing!

    • Cappydawg,
BION (Believe It Or Not), I am asked from time to time, “why do you do it?” (blogging). Especially when the person realizes nobody is paying me to do it.
Also, BION, I sometimes ask myself that question too.

The answer always boils down to: my job often requires me to educate, along with “repair”. I don’t always just ‘click’, ‘click’, ‘click’, you’re all set.
And so, I guess, the “teacher” in me hopes to provide a way for everyone to “learn and enjoy reading”.

Comments like yours keep me going. Thank you.
