License Giveaway Contest – SLOW-PCFighter
Folks, I am pleased to announce my latest software license giveaway drawing.
The folks at SPAMFighter (last week’s giveaway) have generously donated 10 one-year licenses for SLOW-PCFighter to me, to award to my readers. I sincerely thank them for that.
So I am going to do a random drawing¹ contest from folks who “enter” by posting a comment (below). The drawing will close midnight (Pacific) Thursday, Sept. 24th, and the winners announced Friday.
SLOW-PCFighter is a Registry repair program which “uses the most advanced technologies available” to analyze PC errors and – as the name suggests – speed up a PC which has become slow.
From the author:
“SLOW-PCfighter seeks out and removes all unused entries in your Registry from failed software, driver installations and faulty un-installations and optimizes Windows startup.”
SLOW-PCfighter will speed up your PC by solving the following problems:

Folks, Registry repair/cleaner/defrag/optimizer tools are a dime a dozen, and frankly, at best a dubious software category in general. But, nobody likes a slow PC, so most every computer user will sooner or later try one of these. When the folks at SPAMFighter – a product I like – asked me to try this, I was willing, but skeptical. Testing these kinds of product is difficult to do in any scientifical way, so I just installed it on a few machines and watched it.
IMHO:
Pros:
* SLOW-PCfighter is simple to use, even for novice users.. basically 1-click simple!
* Very Important – SLOW-PCfighter monitors and logs its activities, creates a backup before cleaning, and has a easy undo feature. Messing with the Windows Registry is not without risks.
* Can be fully automatic. Install it, and forget it.
* In my limited testing (on 32-bit Vista and XP) I never had to use this “undo” feature as SLOW-PCfighter did not wreck my machines, or cause the odd glitches that these types of utilities sometimes can.. and do.
* I also found that SLOW-PCfighter found ‘errors’ on a machine that had been given a clean bill of health by two different Registry cleaner tools – good ones, in case you’re wondering – as shown below. 858 of them…
Cons:
* As I said earlier, Registry repair/cleaner/defrag/optimizer tools are a dime a dozen and pretty much everyone offers one. Typically, they range in price from free to $50. The folks at SPAMFighter have taken an unusual tack and SLOW-PCfighter is a subscription of $29.95 per year. (Though, it is frequently discounted to $19.95)
* SLOW-PCfighter includes a Startup manager, but since it focuses on the Registry, is lacking features often found in other “Optimize your slow PC” products – such as a junk/temp file cleaner.
* The free trial will only ‘fix’ 25 entries, and thus is not a really good test of whether you will benefit from it – though you can quickly and easily try it here:
Get a free SLOW-PCfighter scan – State-of-the-art PC optimizer.
SLOW-PCfighter requires:
Operating System – Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 (32 and 64bit)
How to enter? Residents of the US and Canada may enter the drawing by simply clicking on “comment”, and entering a name and a valid e-mail (so I can send you the key) in the form. Actually commenting is optional. And, I shouldn’t have to say this, but multiple entries will result in disqualification.
Again, I thank the folks at SPAMFighter for making this giveaway possible.
¹ All entrants will be placed into Random.org’s “randomizer”, and the top 10 results will be the winners.
