Quick Update + Some Pics
Folks,
For the moment… just a ‘quick update’ for you. I will try to post a tech How To article later today, after I get caught up with my Aplus Computer Aid responsibilities.
[update: Today’s How To is now available, here: Firefox problem a result of malware?]
Late yesterday, I returned from a fishing trip to the high Sierras in California’s Stanislaus National Park area. My vacation outing was a fine success in every way .. but one: I caught a 12″ rainbow in the first 15 minutes on the lake, then nothing. Not another bite. People were catching fish, but the ‘action’ was slow – fishing season was just starting, and we were up pretty high.. 5,600 feet, or so. There was still some snow on the ground.
(But I did learn something: that old bumbersticker is right.)
I did snap a couple of pics before leaving. Unfortunately, on our last day, cold and clouds had moved in, so the photos are not sunny…
All in all, a very special weekend. In hindsight, I can’t believe I had let almost two decades pass since I’ve done something like this..
Unfortunately, it’s Monday, and time to get back to work.

Thanks for sharing this Tech Paul…such a beautiful place to experience. I like the rocky trails, and of course your catch… trout… all sounds just right…glad you enjoyed it.

Gaia,
It was quite the change of pace, and scenery, and despite the lack of a catch, was a adventure I will cherish forever.
I even survived Internet withdrawal (no cell signal out there).

Rick,
Those were snapped on my smartphone, on an overcast morning.. not bad for something smaller than a deck of cards.
The weekend was my first getaway from business in three years — and my first fishing outing in two decades or so. Fair to say, long overdue (and over too quickly)!
