Quick Tip + Friday Fun + Miscellaneous
To start off today, I think I should explain: “miscellaneous” has long been one of my favorite words. It’s a “catch-all”, and gives one “wiggle room”, and saves time and energy. As a word, its main weakness (or, “fault”) is, despite decades of practice, I never spell it correctly my first try (thank you, Spell Check!!!) but I have never failed to be able to spell m-i-s-c.. Thesaurus.com tells us that “misc.” can stand in for other cool-yet-hard-to-spell words:
Main Entry: | miscellaneous |
Part of Speech: | adjective |
Definition: | diversified, various |
Synonyms: | assorted, confused, conglomerate, different, disordered, disparate, divergent, divers, diverse, heterogeneous, indiscriminate, jumbled, many, mingled, mixed, motley, muddled, multifarious, multiform, odd, promiscuous, scattered, scrambled, sundry, unmatched, unsorted, varied, variegated |
Variegated?
Today’s free download: Got Spelling? Some – but not all – programs have built-in spell checking of some sort. If you want to add spell checking to all of your apps (or a select group) then take a look at tinySpell (free and pro). If your favorite program does not have built-in spell checking, then tinySpell will definitely be a welcome (and very helpful) addition to your Windows system. They offer a portable version as well so you can take it with you to any PC.
Today’s ‘Quick Tip’: Press the “Windows key” and “D”, together, to quickly shrink your open windows out of your way, and expose your Desktop.
