Gorilla Glass | Kewel Desktop Clock (with weather) | More
Several items have been brought to my attention recently, via reader comments and emails, which are worthy of your attention. First up, “gorilla glass”.
Are considering getting a new mobile device? One that might be dropped? Or kept in the same pocket/purse as your car keys (aka “where it might get scratched”)? Or perhaps, will be mostly in the care of a young person/child?
If so, you might want to make sure the gadget you’re considering has a screen made with “gorilla glass”.

Now that Winter is coming, keeping a “weather eye” on the forecast seems a bit more.. prudent. Having it displayed on your Desktop would make that easy. I am not a fan of “weatherbug” and some of the others (I view as adware and a resource hog.. but others, including CNET give it good reviews. You can see that, and download it here), and don’t really have any good alternative suggestion for a free app (or widget) except for maybe HTC Home.
I don’t think this will give you emergency warnings of impending tornadoes, but does give the basics in an attractive way.
I hope someone will leave a comment with their fave free ‘weather widget’..

Cool, I had gorilla glass all this time and I didn’t know it. Was an ID-10-T Error on my part, I guess.
I have a weather alert email sent from a local TV station sent daily that I can check at any time. I don’t like the widgets or the apps..uses too much power and have ads in them. We do use the weather channel app on the phone..again has ads. And at times I can look out the window. :) NTM, my arthritis can be a great predictor at times.
I use Fences™ Free Product Information – By Stardock – Clean up your desktop clutter because i don’t like a crowded/cluttered desktop. Plus it can “take and restore snapshots of your Fence layouts for backup, or for when you are doing different tasks. Change your resolution for playing games and Fences will keep them in the same relative spots.” However, I am still playing catch up from when we went to Nova Scotia so I have a messy one right now. I can hide it..but I know it’s a mess.

But Fences makes it pretty…Fences™ Screenshots – By Stardock – Clean up your desktop clutter. You can change the colors etc. I have only 14 visible icons. I keep most of my shortcuts in my Start menu in Folders.
What I have on my desktop is programs/folders/stuff(which does suck a few seconds of my startup..but I got a 3 core so it’s not noticeable.) that needs to be sorted…a winter project. :) Now that I have figured out Listary..it shouldn’t take me long to get it done, I hope.

I actually have developed a “working style” where I need to sort of keep that clutter “in front of me” (out of sight, out of mind). But I have read about Fences (as also, other desktop icon organizers) and know it has many fans.

I have fences and the HTC weather widget. They both are serving me well. What I like about fences is I can hide the icons and enjoy my background (mostly of my family and vacations I have enjoyed.)
The weather/clock allows for 12 hour and 24 hours selection. I can learn how to tell military time now.
I know I know, stop playing and get to work. But this is more fun.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us. “Real Life” testimonials are often invaluable.
Coincidentally, in fact, Fences came up (randomly) in a conversation I had ‘on the street’ yesterday.. and so I have decided to take a hint from this “alignment of the planets” (aka Trust the Force, Luke) and will give Fences a trial ASAP.
