Tech – for Everyone

Tech Tips and Tricks & Advice – written in plain English.

Looking Back & Looking Ahead

Well it is that time of year again. 2011 is winding down and 2012 is almost here. Naturally, I guess, you see a lot of “The Year In Review”-type articles, as well as “What To Expect In The New Year”-type articles. (Have you started thing about your “resolutions” yet?)

I don’t feel much need to review the year: it felt basically the same as the year before (although tablet PC’s were hyped to death.. [did you see the word “Android” enough?]), and my ‘prediction’ for 2012 is it will be much the same as this year was.

I think it a safe bet: the number of Americans who will have their identity stolen will remain measured by the 10’s of thousands: credit card fraud will continue to plague the financial and insurance industries. And thousands and thousands of you will fall for a “rogue antivirus” pop-open attack… even though the warnings have been published (weekly) since 2007, and there is now a National Cyber Crime Awareness month.

The same small percentage will actually read the owner’s manual.
Life will get busier and more complex.

~     ~     ~

I will keep my “resolutions” for this coming year personal, and I will wish you much success in yours. I thank you for visiting here this 2011, and I hope to see you again in 2012. I offer you my sincere wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year!

The more things change the more they stay the same department: Got this today…

Mrs Rosalind Deters
Email:[deleted]
Hello Dear,
My name is Rosalind Deters,i am a dying woman who has decided to donate
What i have to you.
I am 59 years old,was diagnosed of cancer about 2 years ago immediately after
The death of my husband, who has left me everything he worked for.
I have been touched by God to donate from what i have inherited from my late
Husband to you for the good work of God,rather than to allow my relatives to
Use my husbands hard earned funds ungodly…

Today’s quote:Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

  1. Thanks Paul for the recap of last year…this year and the good wishes for the new year… and thanks for all your good blogs…with all the useful information.
As usual each year I make New Years Resolutions…well …they sort-of- fall through/fail.

This year I came across the philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson:
    It goes like this:
Finish each day and be done with it.You have done what you could and some blunders and absurdities have crept in…forget them as soon as you can… tomorrow is a new day… you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be “encumbered with nonsense.”

Happy New Year to you and your readers Paul.

      And I like the quote.
