A few items for your Sunday..
I simply must start off today by by mentioning that – since they won their big game last weekend – my 49er’s are playing for the NFC Championship today, and if they should win, will go to the Super Bowl (for the first time since .. a rather long while). The NY Giants are coming here to play. Go Niners!
[update: There is no joy in Mudville. The Niners lost in overtime. Great season, guys, and a *heck* of a game.]
Next up, an alert reader sent me a cybercrime news item.
Okay. Another “crime news” depressing downer of a story, blah, blah, blah.. right?
Not so! This one involves iPads, and, yes, scams. But I couldn’t believe the facts of the story.. I won’t spoil the surprise: click here and read for yourself. (Amazing!) Thank you, Dear Reader, for sending that in!

Today’s Sunday Beauty…yes – different… but, perhaps you saw in it Some Peoples Reality.
Carl Sagan… I was/am a fan of his. His quote that you choose today asks me… “what he would think of today’s technology” if he were still alive?
Another of his quotes…one of my favorites… of which we all have experienced this:
I know that you believe that you understand what you think I said…but I am not sure that you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

Thanks for the ‘support’ for the Sunday Beauty (feature).
I am aware that there is very little “beauty” in today’s image — scraggly, out-of-focus background; a drab B&W; and that’s not Farrah Fawcett sitting there.. and I am no fan of pigeons..
BION (Believe It Or Not), the “keyword” I chose to use when starting my search for today’s image was – to counteract the winter day – “rainbow”. I thought to myself “bright and sunny would be a nice change of pace”. Long story short, I stumbled across this one (again)(I believe I have posted it before..) and .. it started talking to me.
Maybe I’m weird, but this image speaks (to me). This antithesis of a colorful rainbow.

Using a low f# isn’t techie enough for some. Dontcha know they like to imply you sweat to take photos and it involves magic. I have a neighbor like that. I ask her something because I am learning and she goes off on some tangent…
Some times I like black and white pics…this one would not be the same in color. It does speak to you.

Though my photography days were many lifetimes ago, now, to my simple way of thinkin’, the “rules” for photography were fairly straightforward – open the lens when you need speed; use a tripod (or flash) when that isn’t enough.
Sweat? As one who spent hours in a darkroom attempting a perfect print, I can see how that can be. But photography should be fun, and I hope you enjoy learning/doing. It’s a wonderful “hobby” and creative outlet!

Sorry about your 49ers. Maybe next year. The did have a great season.
The picture is just perfect. When I look at it I wonder what is on her mind at that moment and find that she seems to content with her surroundings.

I am pleased to learn I am not the only one who wondered that..
And thank you for the good sportsmanship. The 49er’s have been so bad for so long that it has been.. well, painful; and this coach and this team have really turned things around (and it’s like a badly needed drink of water..) and have a lot to feel good about.
Hope that snow and ice isn’t hitting you too hard…!
