Learning from the Like button
If you have ever left a Comment on a website/blog, maybe you have noticed a “Like” button.. and maybe wondered what it is.
Well, what it is is kinda a gimmick, and a way for bloggers to get some pseudo ‘linkbacks’ to their own publishing/website – kind of disguised as a way to “give a thumbs up” to other writers.
See, the Internet is a strange place, and people who inhabit it worry about things like Google PageRank, and getting noticed (aka “gaining eyeballs”). It’s all about getting your URL mentioned on as many other websites as possible.
Bizarre, yes. But true.
Anywho.. I don’t expect you, Dear Reader, to care about that. The reason I mention the Like button at all is, recently several other writers have “Liked” my articles and since I did not recognize them, I followed them back (linkback, remember?) to their websites and read their stuff. I think you may very well be glad I did, as I am going to now refer you to a few of the more intriguing of the bunch (in no particular order). Happy reading!
