Tech – for Everyone

Tech Tips and Tricks & Advice – written in plain English.

Some Quick Tips…

First, let me apologize for being away from the site — busy, busy! And this morning, I only have time to bring a couple of items to your attention.

analog clock1) A timely reminder, and some free help.

Deadline reminder: Taxes
To help you meet this deadline, on the IRS website there is a page called “FreeFile”, and here you will find the “partnership links” to the free versions of 19 accepted tax prep programs — of which H&R Block’s Free File and also TurboTax are available.
To qualify, you must have an Adjusted Gross Income of $56,000 or less.

Today’s free link: FreeFile at the IRS
Note: there’s two buttons on the page; “I will choose” and “help me choose”. Though all of the programs there are accepted by the IRS, I would recommend clicking the “I will choose”, and then selecting either H&R Block or TurboTax.

(I [me, myself]  don’t need to worry about taxes. I’m going to get rich playing games, and then I’ll just hire an accountant.. )

2) Scam Warning: This is the time of year when the scammers send “phishing” emails claiming to be the I.R.S. and you need to double up on your ‘paranoid common sense’ — if you receive an email that mentions “refund”, “claim”, or says there’s a problem with your return, delete it.
The government does not send you emails out of the clear blue sky, don’t you know.

3) Have a good day everyone. The weekend’s drawing closer… (Pssst. Need an engagement ring?)

Today’s quotable quote:It’s hard to decide if TV makes morons out of everyone, or if it mirrors Americans who really are morons to begin with.” ~ Martin Mull
