An alert reader sent me a smile. It was an “Online April Fools” that I had missed.

Thank you Dear Reader (you know who you are).

.. and another news item brought a smile: I guess we’re not totally sitting idly by while criminals (using computers) bleed us white (“cyber” crime is costing us over $100 BILLION/year.. that we know about)(And that doesn’t include “intellectual property”).

A Russian national is in custody in Newark, N.J., facing charges of hacking into the web accounts of several brokerages to initiate sham stock trades that allegedly netted $1 million.Read more..

Please don’t worry too much folks. Great minds have woken up to the fact the Internet is completely broken, and people are scrambling, now,  to try to glue security measures onto it, and keep it running.
Because it’s vitally important that we be bombarded with advertising.

Ransomware in the news (again): Emsisoft warns about a new ACCDFISA ransomware threat wave on Windows servers

Emsisoft experts have tracked a group of hackers that have been launching targeted attacks on Windows servers running publicly accessible Remote Desktop and Terminal Services. If the attack is successful, the ransomware ACCDFISA is installed and moves important files into encrypted RAR archives. Access to such encrypted files is only possible after paying ransom.” Read more..
