He’s Back.
And thus endeth the getaway excursion.
Hello again, folks. Yes, I have returned from my all too brief escape from reality. I doubt I will shock, or surprise you when I say that I enjoyed the respite, and can attest to the rejuvenating properties of even a brief break from the daily routine(s) of life.
I think if you have been reading me for a while, you will not be shocked nor surprised when I say to you — if you can possible manage it, take a little “getaway” yourself.
(My little outing was done “on the cheap”, and even with the [outrageously] high cost of gas, was surprisingly affordable.)
My Grandma used to say a vacation “clears out the cobwebs”. And I think I now know what she meant.

Now, I know we are in a global recession; whole nations are declaring bankruptcy; decent (non-McJob) jobs are rarer than hen’s teeth. And I know we live in an age where there are never enough hours in the day. The “state of the nation” is a mess. And nothing has gotten any easier. I know that – for some of you, anyway – taking a vacation is not “doable”. Or, doesn’t feel doable.
But I am here to tell you that “clearing out the cobwebs” every now and again is important and that you are worth it.
If all you can manage is to take ten minutes, close your eyes, and “imagine” yourself here.. well, that’s better than a sharp stick in the eye, and that’s fersher!
So, please, treat yourself right.

(Thanks to all who participated in my Firefox poll.)(Yes, I did review all the tech headlines, and doings that occurred during my absence. The only interesting thing [I thought] was the story about the Wired writer’s getting all his online accounts hacked, and how it made the front pages of newspapers. Maybe people really are waking up… The rest seemed to me to be the usual Tech Industry shenanigans.)
Oh My Tech!: Wired writer’s hacking story a warning
“You may have heard the horrifying story of Wired.com writer, Mat Honan, whose digital life was all but destroyed by hackers last weekend.
While his tale may be especially interesting to techies, it’s really a cautionary tale for everyone.” Read more..
One last thought.. it is kinda nice being home again, too. Folks, enjoy your Sunday and, please, let’s be safe out there.
