The Amazing Power of the Human Mnid

Brain Study

I know a guy.

And this guy “forwards” those “forwarded emails”.

You know the ones.. Pictures of cute puppies & kitties, and political mass mailings, etc.?

But this guy, I signed up to be on his mailing list. Because he culls all those circulating FW:’s out there in Internetland, and only selects the cream of the crop for.. well, further “forward”-ing. Here’s one I found interesting, and I think some of you might, too. (Others will recognize the first section of the ‘quiz’.)

(And, what the hey. Think of it as a break from your Monday.)

Good example of a Brain Study: If you can read this OUT LOUD you have a strong mind.

To my ‘selected’ strange-minded friends:

Can you raed this? Olny 55 plepoe out of 100 can. I cdnuolt blveiee that I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd what I was rdanieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno’t mtaetr in what oerdr the ltteres in a word are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is that the frsit and last ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can still raed it whotuit a pboerlm. This is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the word as a wlohe. Azanmig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt!

My spellchecker had a nervous breakdown…

If you had no trouble with that first section, you might know of |337? (pronounced “leet”, short for “elite”) and know it is rather old.

Well. Back to the old grindstone..

  2. Hey…an interesting subject! Long time since I put my brain through this exercise… I read it! :) (also reminding me of Speed Reading)

I sent this out to a few friends who are tuned into the “studies and the incredible powers” of the human mind.

Thanks for this Paul…also for the interesting quote… to add to my collection of my Fav. Quotes.

    • dkdude,
Well, the important thing here, I think, is that you humored me and played along.

What I found interesting was in the first section (the l33t speak) it asks that I read it out loud, which I had great trouble with, but when I just read it, it was crystal clear. (a brain-to-tongue disconnect..)

You have one of those too, eh?

Sometimes.. I think.. I would rather have a cure for senility/Alzheimer’s than for cancer (except, maybe, Childhood leukemia..) … but I’d settle for a cure for both.
