A lot of you had your Yahoo! Mail accounts hacked (and everyone in your Contacts list received an email containing a dangerous link…). If you haven’t done so in a while, you probably want to change your password. (And yes, you have to be suspicious. Just because a link seems to come from a friend, doesn’t mean they really sent it to you..)

Speaking of “Steam” although I know that wasn’t the article subject matter, I can no longer play any Steam game. I get an error message that states “ERROR: Steam.exe (main exception). To run Steam, you must first connect to the Internet.”
I know darned well I have an Internet connection. I even temporarily disabled my firewall and other Internet program limiting software. And I updated my nvidia drivers. I have been sending support messages to Steam for 9 days now with no reply. I paid a lot of money for those games and now they’re useless. Did I mention how much I HATE Steam???

balmy33,
When I google that exact error message, I find that you are far from alone. Most of the ‘hits’ took me to the Steam forums (which is where I would have started looking anyway) and the consensus seems to be that there’s (once again) a problem with Steam’s code (updater/installer). But.. the steps to try are outlined in the course of this thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=976072.
On Ask.com, someone answered: “To fix steam, you need to restart it every now and then or delete its configurations. This includes the favorite servers and games that you have downloaded in the past.”
But I’m afraid keeping after the children at Steam, and thoroughly searching the Steam User Forum are your best bets. Me? I will never buy another “Powered by Steam” game again, and have even abandoned my favorite series (Call of Duty) because they climbed into bed with Steam. (So you see, I HATE Steam too.)
