Yup. Still here.
No, folks, there’s nothing wrong with your “feed” or subscription. I simply haven’t posted anything new in a while.
I’m still here, and I’m still keeping my eye on the developments. It’s just that .. well.. life gets weird, occasionally.
Ya’ know?
And this is just a quick note to let you know those things, and to tell you to keep your eyes open for more articles in the future. But don’t expect any soon — as all I’ve seen lately is tech decision makers being beyond moronic (thinking they have to buy games, develop more games, and acquire the rights to Looney Tunes to cast as the characters in games (Google “Looney Tunes Dash”, if you didn’t catch that last reference).
And there’s been no progress on the security, or privacy fronts, but fear not, better methods to show you unwanted advertisements are Priority 1. (And there’s a new iPhone!!! YAY!!!)
Fflluurrtt…
(Sorry.. but I remember when tech was called “business machines” [as in IBM].)
So I have to let my bile settle a bit.
And along those lines, I looked for a diversion and discovered that Netflix acquired the last season of a show a few people told me they loved, but as I don’t watch TV any more, had never seen, called HIMYM, and marathon-watched all 9 seasons.
(Those of you with a sappy, romantic, emotional side probably shouldn’t watch it.. )
There was one “sketch” in it that really made me smile.. Here it is:
I’d forgotten that song..
And! To be fair, here’s a poll:

Friday. A ‘check in’.
Since it’s been a while, I thought I would post a little something.. but as I sit here, I’m still not sure what that’s going to be.
* It has been my habit to post a ‘fun video’ on Fridays.
And I probably would have, had it not occurred to me that yesterday was the anniversary of the 9/11 attack.
And a video of goofballs proving Darwin’s theory, or monkeys throwing poo, seems inappropriate today.

These folks slept on the sidewalk to be one of the first to own…
* And we all know a new iPhone was announced this week.
And loyal readers should know by now what I think of iDevices, and that I couldn’t care less.
Of much more interest to me was the announcement the new Amazon phone was reduced to 99¢.
Like.. a month after it was announced (and priced at $200).
* Facebook.
I’ve nothing positive to say. Wean yourself from it, if you can.
* Firefox Beta 243 is out.
Seriously. Guys. Just fix the bugs, and call it a day. (And bug fixes don’t call for new version numbers..)
* I’m looking forward to the weekend. I hope you are too. Having something to look forward to is important for your mental ‘well-being’.
* And speaking of ‘well-being’, would the one person who answered my poll with “I feel none of those things” care to share how they do it? (You can leave a comment w/o a name.)
Be well

I’m curious (Another poll)
The promise of “tech” was that it was going to make life easier, humans more productive, and free of us from mundane tasks. I’m curious if anyone out there is experiencing a slightly different reality in these Modern Times.
Thank you.
I’d like to also take a moment, and remind you, Dear Reader, that one of the best “cures” (for the feelings listed above) is getting off your pity pot, and going out and performing what we’ve come to call “a random act of kindness” (I assure you, no matter how impoverished/lacking you feel, there’s someone nearby with less). And we all know that laughter is the best medicine, so turn off the Bad News Machine, and tune into some slapstick comedy — 3 Stooges, Marx Brothers, or Jerry Lewis, or Seinfeld, or sumsuch as that.

A reading reco, and free games
For your consideration: Though this is a bit of a longer article, I highly recommend getting all the way though it.
* Why the U.S. needs better privacy laws, now!
“Microsoft recently published an open letter to President Obama, condemning some government surveillance techniques and calling for federal data-privacy legislation.” Read more..
* free games (and timewasters).
Today’s free link: Thinks.com offers free puzzles of all sorts (crosswords, sudoku, jigsaw, codebreaker, etc.) and games like checkers and chess. Fit for the whole family. Now, I’ll admit two things: these kinds of games are kind of “old school”, and I cannot do Sudoku.. But Thinks.com is a Bookmark in all my browsers on all my machines. Check it out for yourself.
