Out with the old…

I don’t know about you, but I’m always glad to put ‘election years’ behind me.
Be safe & sane in your celebrations, and I hope you have a happy and prosperous new year!

All we really have, in the end, are our stories.
Make yours great ones. Ones to be proud of.
And please, never forget – one person can make a difference.
Find a way to make someone’s day today.
(Best advice I ever heard? Don’t sweat the small stuff.)
Season’s Greetings
I have said this before, but I’ll say it again:
Cheer up. Take deep breaths.
I know folks get a little stressed out this time of year. Rude, even.
And holiday travel can be a real challenge to the psyche (even if you’re lucky enough to not to have your flight canceled..)
And I know all about crass commercialism, and how advertisements make watching TV nigh on impossible… (do you REALLY think I am going to buy a new car as a Xmas gift??) and remind us there are such things as electric razors, but..
Just breathe.
Count your blessings.
Chant “ohm… ohm… ohm…” if that’s what works for you.
I have a policy: if I encounter rudeness and stress? I counter it with a double-dose of civility, courtesy, and charm. Yes! Go ahead and take that parking space I’ve been waiting 10 minutes for! Godspeed to you! No worries, another will open in a jiffy!
Lead by example.
Don’t forget, nor lose sight of, what’s important (hint: it ain’t getting that FitBit gift-wrapped and to the Post Office..)
And even though my timing is a wee bit early, allow this grouchy curmudgeon to wish you safe travels and the very happiest of holidays.

If you are, or ever were, a Yahoo user, read this
Please note the date. And also please note, many of your ISP’s use Yahoo as their ‘engine’/email provider.. such as SBC/AT&T.
* Data on 1B Yahoo users stolen in second breach
“Data on one billion Yahoo users was likely stolen by an unauthorized third party in a data breach that occurred in August 2013, the company said in a Wednesday press release that also noted the breach is “likely distinct” from a breach previously disclosed in September.” Read more..
RELATED: How to delete or protect your Yahoo account
“It’s time to seriously consider deleting your Yahoo account. Can’t? OK, here’s what you can do to protect it.” Read more..
* * *
I almost titled this article “Yahoo! Scores More Points”.. But didn’t as I don’t want people zeroing in their concern on Yahoo! This kind of thing happens all over the place, to most every company/organization sooner or later — because we’re using quite insecure technologies. You pretty much have to presume your ‘identity’ is already stolen. And you have to be darned reluctant (unwilling, as much as you able) to provide accurate information to any entity.
… it just keeps getting better and better ..
One billion people in a single hack.
Are these people nuts?
Folks, the tech industry is talking about upcoming “improvements” to Windows 10. Which of course is an indicator of the evolution of our devices.. and what the big brains at the billion dollar companies think we want..
* Windows 10: Ten missing and highly anticipated features due in 2017
“A look at the most significant changes due to hit Microsoft’s evolving OS in the coming year.” Read more..
Okay.. I don’t want ANY of that. Do you? (Are you ‘eagerly anticipating’?) Would you even call these ‘improvements’?
The only one I think worthy of mention is for a browser I’ll never use.
I’m going to replace my desktop with a phone..? I guess marijuana is legal in the State of Washington? Cuz they gotta be high.
… It’s like they spend so much time in their labs, they have a complete disconnect with human psychology.. The numbers telling them that people are desperately clinging to Windows XP and Office 2003 must utterly baffle them.
