eBay Phishing

eBay_phishing

But.. I do not buy or sell, nor have I ever bought or sold, a thing on eBay... Hmmm…

inside

Ah! A link! (which reads, “View the dispute thread to respond”)
So, I hover my mouse over the link and see that it leads to…
http://190.xxx.xxx.xxx/icons/small/ps1.gif/signin.ebay.com/ws/ebayISPP.dll/SignIn/
index.htmlSignIn&co_partnerId=2&pUserId=&siteid=0&pageType=&pa1=
&i1=&bshowgif=&UsingSSL=&ru=http://www.ebay.com&pp=&pa2=&errmsg=&
runame=&ruparams=&ruproduct=&sid=&favoritenav=&confirm=&ebxPageType=
&existingEmail=&isCheckout=&migrateVisitor=

which traces back to “Cheap Web Hosting By Directi”.

Or.. I can just look at the WOT “red doughnut” warning.

Folks.. be suspicious of everything on the Internet. And then be suspicious again. Paranoid is good.

… another clue is, I think only spammers use “required” in e-mail subject lines..

When You Are A World Famous Blogger..

(And I Only Win A Half-million Euros Today.. )

When you are a World Famous Blogger (like me), you get e-mails containing money from the United Nations*

united
And I must say, I’m a little miffed at Western Union.. deleting !!! my (non-existent) account.. on a Sunday.
I mean, they just sent me the the update notice !!! late Friday… I thought I had until Monday.. at least.

And when you are a World Famous Blogger (like me), you find that people will auction their items using your e-mail address. I just wish the person(s) using mine would stop causing so many disputes, and accepting bogus cc#s…

… I love a good irony, don’t you? The cybercrooks are counting on our stupidity to work these phishing scams, and it’s pretty clear to me that they are the stupid ones.
United Nations??? Uh.. yeah. Okay. It might happen.. (insert rest of Mike Myers’ line here.)

Today’s free link: Today, something maybe I should’a read a long time ago.. How to Dissuade Yourself from Becoming a Blogger

* and for a look at the contents of my e-mail from the UN Security Council, click here.

Almost forgot.. my latest win..
