Click here to download Windows 7

Okay, now that I have my copy…

If you want to get yourself a copy of the Release Candidate (final beta) of the new Windows 7 operating system, click here.

There is no limit this time, and this link will be good for a while, so you don’t need to rush or panic. (Be aware, also, that your install will expire June 1st next year, and you will not be able to ‘license’ this release.)

Tip: I suggest you read the page.. particularly the system requirements. Also, if you’re thinking of installing Windows 7 and your machine is a little bit older (say, 2 or more years) please see Download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor – Can You Handle The Ride!

    • Tim,
While the download took a while (1hr 48m on a 3Mbps DSL) the actual install took 27 minutes.

I used the Windows Easy Transfer (Advanced settings) and my old profile – including installed programs – was on my new Win 7 20 minutes later.

Amazing. And no 3rd-party tools required!

      Try it. You’ll like it.

      • Well, I’m running on cable hitting twice the speed so I suppose the DL time would be half that for me. I’ve been wanting to try Ubuntu for quite some time so I’ll prob test that before Win 7, but they’re both on my mental to-do list.

        • I have “tried” Ubuntu, Kubuntu, OpenSUSE, etc, so on, and so forth, oh, I’ll say.. twenty times in the last 3 years?
Each time telling myself, “this time, I’m really going to learn this OS!”

I offer (FREE!) a bit of computer builder’s wisdom.. don’t rush it.
      Measure twice and cut once.
But.. I understand you already know a thing or two about building..!!!

I wish you solid good luck on your computer build, and many years of happy computing.

PS — I am very impressed with 7.. so far.

Aside from a quick Lear flight down to Cancun, and Casino Night in Monte Carlo…

Getting a little antsy, are we? I don’t blame you!

  3. Folks —
By “both versions” G is referring to the 32-bit, and the 64-bit.

Which one you want is determined by your computer’s spec’s. Read the page for help in determining which is right for you.
