Fighting the advertisers | Canadian Elections Hacked?
Folks,
The good people at WordPress (who ‘host’ this site) have “reminded” me that it is time for me to renew the payment for the $30/yr “No ads” option. So I am going to do something today I have not done in the 4+ years I have been doing daily writing here.
So, if you appreciate my efforts here and/or appreciate the fact that there are no sales pitches or advertising and/or want to let advertisers know they are not welcome and/or simply feel like it, please donate any amount you might wish to the cause by clicking on the “donate” widget in my side column (the one that nobody ever notices)

News update: (Just in) It seems that the online voting in Canada has been attacked by hackers.. this was posted 2 minutes ago: NDP leadership voting delayed by outside attack
“…outside attack on its online voting system created the delays that have plagued voting for the NDP leadership Saturday, senior party official Brad Lavigne says.
Lavigne says the system was not hacked and the integrity of votes cast has not been compromised. But the attack delayed third-round voting when the system had to be restarted, he said.” Read more..

I am a Retired computer & network technician. I used to think the machines were pretty cool. Now I don’t.

I regularly posted how-to’s and tricks & tips and general computing advice here starting in 2007. (Use the Search tool to find answers. But be aware, many are rather dated.) Good Idea to remind your readers that it “costs you money” to keep the blog going, especially when it’s ad free. (we all hate the ads) Other blogs request donations and I have paid for copies of an article…more costly than the 1.$ you mentioned. I am in agreement with your request, here’s hoping it will be supported by your other readers.
…and the News Update… (thanks for this) another attack on Canada’s Democracy…could be linked to the ROBO calls that plagued our Federal Election in May. The online voting system has every potential for corruption …we need to go back to the paper and pencil way of marking our X.

The reasons are pretty much what the previous ones said, but please indulge me…..
I have followed you for 2+ years–albeit, not every day [sorry ’bout that], but very close…[and I read the “past” ones]
In that time you have maintained an honest AND ethical presentation, and every binary bone & thought in my body & mind, tells me you have standards well above the average blogger….
