Battery Powered Slippers (and more)

I have been around the block.
A few times.

And so I suppose it is only natural that every now and again I get onto thinking that I have seen it all.
Been there.
Done that.
Got the t-shirt.

That said, recently, it came to be that I thought maybe the time had come to replace my house-slippers. (I decided this when my analysis of the existing pair told me that they were now composed of more than 50% duct tape and shoe-goo [a very cool glue].)

So I went on Amazon.
And discovered a new (to me) specimen — battery operated slippers.
The blurb said that they massage your feet.. and that they were under $15.
Hmmm… so I ordered a pair just to see.
I mean.. this has to be a joke, right? A.. “gag gift”.

Well, I have had them for a month now. Yes. I have been walking around with AA batteries in my shoes. (Too, too, weird to think about.) And I have turned on the vibrator units and – besides being ridiculous feeling (and sounding [bbzzzzz]) – have to confess there’s nothing funny about it.. though the “massage” effect is fairly feeble…
Scientific Advancement.
Amazing age we live in.

The title referred to the practice of “rating” a person’s physical attractiveness on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the perfect score.Read more..

Yesterday I republished an article explaining why there are so many updates these days, and why it’s important to apply them. My friend and fellow tech blogger Rick Robinette’s article yesterday was of a similar vein.. and provides one solution: Manage And Keep Your Software (apps) Up-To-Date With AllMyApps

I am sure if you are regular visitor to What’s On My PC you will find that my main point of interest is FREE software. I typically review software by downloading, installing and using the software for awhile before I give it a thumbs up. As a result, I end up with quite a collection […] Read more..
