Yahoo: Your Personal Info Stolen

According to a company statement, stolen information may have included names, email address telephone numbers, birth dates, hashed passwords and, in some instances, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers.Read more..

[ I think it’s safe to mentally remove the “may have” from that.. ]

Please forward this on to your friends and loved ones who use Yahoo! Mail. Tell ’em they need to change their passwords, and beware of suspicious “phishing” emails that sound like they know you..

And if you don’t know what “phishing” is by now.. please stop using the Internet.

Just now, Hotmail (oops, I mean Outlook) changed!!

Microsoft just now did one of those things I just simple H-A-T-E! They “modernized” the user interface (no doubt to make it more compatible with ‘mobile devices’) and changed the look of my Inbox.

Thanks a lot Microsoft! Don’t you know we users detest this crap?

Didn’t you learn from the kickback you received from Office’s “Ribbon”? Or Windows 8?

Crap man. At least offer a setting that says, “No thanks. Leave my Inbox the *&^% alone.”

And now to send an email, I have to learn where you moved the buttons and thingies.. Just how I wanted to spend my time! (Not good to change the “insert inline image” to a seperate command button..)

NO. I am not going to start using One Drive just because you always default point to it. Or put shortcuts – for me – to it.

In The News (This last day of July)

Two items today. First up, a tech “must read”.
Microsoft ordered to hand over overseas email, throwing EU privacy rights in the fire

US law can apply anywhere in the world, so long as a technology company has control over foreign data, a court rules.Read more..

Related: Yes, the FBI and CIA can read your email. Here’s how

[ I certainly hope nobody thinks there is such a thing as Internet Privacy.. And and that we all act accordingly. ]

And second: I just heard that one of my favorite “media personalities”, James Garner, passed away (I no longer turn on my TV, or read newspapers, so I’m late to that awareness).

You know, I liked him, and believed his performance, in every single thing I saw him in. It’s a real shame Netflix doesn’t have Maverick.. or I’d be starting a tribute ‘movie marathon’ now.. (I loved him in one of my fave war movies, The Great Escape, and also one of my fave Westerns, Support Your Local Sheriff! )

I’m watching Move Over, DARLING right now. One of his I’d somehow missed seeing before. (Yah, I remember now why I missed it. Wasn’t ever a Doris Day fan, and plus, it was a remake of a Cary Grant movie.)

There is a good tribute movie clip sequence, and article, here.

Hey! Thanks, Google!

Tech whiz kids really are making the world a better place!

Google just made it really easy for strangers to email you

You no longer need someone’s email address to send them an email. At least, that will soon be the case if you want to email another Google+ user. A new Gmail “feature” will let you simply type in anyone’s name into Gmail’s “to” field and send them an email. Google announced the new Google+ integration on its Gmail blog today, but company representatives have clarified that — by default — anyone on its social network will be able to send messages to your Gmail inbox.Read more..

Fortunately, there will be a way for you to opt out (read the article to find the setting), which you’re going want to do, as I think the only people who are going to do this are spammers (and my guess is, they’ll do it a LOT.)

Genius!

(Hey, Google? Google Plus is never going to compete with Facebook, any more than I can flap my arms and fly.. Smell the coffee.)
