Tech – for Everyone

Tech Tips and Tricks & Advice – written in plain English.

Another Quarter-million!

In the middle of this year, this site passed a major Blog milestone with 1,000,000 visits. (Naturally, I wrote an article on that.) I noticed this morning that…

The old odometer has just clicked over the 1,250,000th visitor to my humble tech Tips, Tricks, and Advice site, Tech – for Everyone.

I have copy>pasted the previous article, and updated it, to reflect what’s happened, now that we’re at the end of 2010.

*     *     *

Since I first published article #1, The first Tech Paul Post: secure your web connection, in June of 2007, I have learned a good deal, made some very important friendships, and – hopefully – helped a few folks learn a few things, solve a few problems, and better enjoy technology along the way.

To you – Dear Reader – I say…

thank_you

A few other T4E stats:

# of articles posted: 1,056 1,251 (roughly 93.56% original, 6.44% re-postings.) Use my “Search widget” to browse prior tips & answers by keywords, or browse my writings by month.

# of Reader Comments: 3,892 5,937 (almost exactly half of those are my replies.. so lets say, 2,000 3,000 readers have asked questions/commented. I welcome your comments on my articles and questions about computers and “tech”. Dialogue is what keeps the Web relevant and dynamic.)

Most popular article: Manage Startup programs in Vista

Most downloaded program (referral): Security Task Manager (928 1,076)

# of cups of coffee consumed by Tech Paul while writing all these articles: 16 18 (… but, they were Olympic swimming pool-sized cups. Ha!)

I never intended to write so many posts, nor write for so long.. my intention was simply to publish a few How-To’s, .. so I could say “read this”, instead of repeating myself (when people find out you’re a tech.. they ask you questions!).

  1. TechPaul,

This is great milestone! Blogging is tough work, but rewarding. As I always have said, you have been a mentor to me and had a whole lot with getting me into the blogging scene. Your advice (and friendship) has been dead on target.

    Congratulations…

    Rick

    • Rick,
I feel compelled to confess your words made me blush a little bit.. and they sure have charged my blogger’s batteries.. thank you!

I often wonder along the lines of “rewarding” when it comes to writing this series; and many a day I have severe doubts, (in truth, I wonder if I’m crazy for doing it) but there is no doubt in my mind that it is my great pleasure and privilege to be able to recommend your What’s On My PC.. to my readers.

  2. Paul,

Congratulations on another milestone my friend.

I sincerely hope that you choose to continue on to the 2 million and even 10 million hit mark. Your common sense approach to technical writing is an inspiration to us all.

It truly would be a shame to let your many years of experience in this field slip away into the shadows of cyberspace. You have gone way above and beyond the call of duty with your personal replies to advanced technical problems (one of mine in particular which you solved). I would expect a person of your caliber to charge for such personal service, yet you go out of your way to spend your “off time” to test and try things at home in an attempt to solve a problem for a total stranger. You impressed the heck outta me!

What I find most interesting is that you run a separate business and still manage to find the time to spend hours here helping people with their technical issues. Your recommendations have opened my eyes to some really great applications, technical tips, and other blogs that I would have otherwise missed.

As a Brother In Arms all I can say is a hearty THANK YOU!

    Best regards
    Lyle

  3. Congrats Paul…and thank you for your hard work and dedication to we readers… the comments mentioned here is well deserved.

I look forward to your blog…it arrives in my inbox in late evening, (often not to read it until the next day.) Without your blog I would not have paid much attention to the psychology of technology. Even if the blog does not apply to me, the read is interesting and helpful.

    Thanks Again
