Earlier this week I posted a short advice piece for having a hopefully less frustrating experience the next time you have to call for some tech support (see, Spot Fake Facebook Profiles + More). Less than 24 hours later, life found a way to remind me why calling tech support is – in many people’s minds – a preview tour of aitch-ee-double-toothpicks.

Which, reminded me that The Oatmeal has a cartoon I have been meaning to post as some ‘Friday Fun”. See, Why I’d Rather Be Punched In The Testicles Than Call Customer Service

  2. The same goes for Customer Service. I was on the phone today for 20 mins. just waiting. No Celine, elevator music,,,,Nothing… No sound at all..Complete silence for 20 mins. I know because the dang phone has a timer on it. I, finally, hung up. That was quite eery.

  3. Customer Service: Unless it is urgent I put it off as long as possible, I dread those calls. One of their planned strategies: if they don’t want to answer a question, or if we are too VOCAL, (termed as a difficult customer) they “PURPOSELY put us on HOLD” with no intention of coming back to the phone to answer the question… they know we will eventually hang up. While waiting for them to return, I have put my phone on SPEAKER, carry the phone around with me…I then go about my business, sometimes they return, other times they do not.
