Facebook stock plunge sounds alarm on Calif. budget

Sometimes.. I have to ask myself.. just how dumb are politicians?

Facebook stock plunge sounds alarm on California’s budget

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) — “Facebook’s plunging stock price is now sinking California’s hope of keeping the state’s budget above water. Gov. Jerry Brown hoped the state would get nearly $2 billion dollars in tax revenue when Facebook began trading publicly in May.” Read more..

… putting together a budget based on expecting the stock market to behave a certain way… Well, I guess that’s no dumber than giving 18 year-old’s credit cards, and establishing a buy-now-hopefully-pay-later mindset.

All this because Facebook is not efficient at pumping ads to your smartphone. (Ads we neither want nor need.)

IMHO, the lunatics are running the asylum. Seems simple as that…

In other news: What does Google Fiber mean for the rest of us?

So Google is beginning their fiber efforts in earnest in Kansas City…What does that mean for the rest of us fighting with our crappy ISPs?Read more..

(Why, it means more ads, of course. [And them learning even more about us? {If that’s possible..}])

Today’s quote:Anyone can carry his burden, however hard, until nightfall. Anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Anyone can live sweetly, patiently, lovingly, purely, till the sun goes down. And this is all life really means.” ~ Robert Louis Stevenson

    • Gaia,
I have to disagree with you a bit, I think. It has always been my belief that Pols are rather unique characters (who often view us citizens as a herd of sheep).

It is nice to think of a politician as a “public servant”, like Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, but … even in that movie, he was the abnormal one.

But I wonder what the IRS would say if I used such accounting methods? And I am trying to remember how old I was when I first heard “don’t count your chickens until they’re hatched”..
